Reza Pahlavi's statement condemning the murder verdict of Shahin Najafi

I strongly condemn the outspoken murder verdict for Shahin Najafi, our country’s young artist and I ask the international community together with all freedom seekers around the world not to remain silent towards this barbaric and medieval behavior of the Islamic government which should be decisively condemned.

The religious tyranny ruling on Iran during the past 33 years, has organized a targeted violence against our people. The institutionalization of violence has been in all society levels, destroying all socio-cultural structures particularly against the youth who are our true national capital.
The Islamic Republic is the initiator of all misery in our beloved country. On one hand by instrumental usage of religion and Promoting superstition, religious fanaticism, and repression of basic rights like the obvious freedom of thought and speech, on the another hand, has been the main cause for people losing their faith in religion, especially among the youth.

The performance of this theocratic regime is based on religious apartheid which has no result but the invalidity of the religion and clergymen. An oppressive government who calls itself God’s representative on earth, brings injustice on both religious and non-religious people of this land and has violated the fundamental human rights even among clergymen.

My dear compatriots,

The Iranian youth as well as all other young people around the world, express their dissatisfaction and the irregularities of their society under the form of a cartoon, a poem, a writing or their objection turns out to be a song.

But the ruling regime, reacts in an inhuman and uncivil manner and systematically violates the freedom of thought and speech and threatens our youth and accuses them of blasphemy regardless of their outcry over the current situation in the country.

Today, flogging and death sentences used to repress free expression, are considered as symbols of savagery medieval acts. The Islamic regime should know that the young wise and brave Iranians can neither be censored nor silenced in this way.

The miserable experience with this religious regime has proven that the establishment of the basic principle in order to achieve a democratic governance in our country Iran, is the separation of the two institutions, religion and state. With every passing day, the true nature of this anti-religious and non-human regime reveals more and more.
it's upon all of us to unmask their deception with vigilance and enlightment to define the borders between true religious and the instrumentally religious pretenders so that we can disarm those have been entrenched behind in the name of religion. Only in a government based on the separation of religion and state the respect to all religions, beliefs, dissidents and even to all clergymen will be maintained.

Although our struggle for freedom of thoughts and the mutual respect of each other's rights appear difficult to achieve, but I am sure that our victory is in the near future and as always I will do my best efforts to let the “cry for freedom and justice” of my people get heard.

God bless Iran

Reza Pahlavi
